Southgate RPP Program

On May 9, 2016, City Council directed staff to implement a Residential Preferential Parking (RPP) program in the Southgate neighborhood through a stakeholder process. This process kicked off in July 2016, and information pertinent to the program development and implementation will be posted to this website.

The development and implementation of the Southgate RPP program can roughly be broken down into four segments:

  1. Community Engagement (July-December 2016): Comprised of a community workshop kick-off, then two community workshops, focus groups, and a resident survey in late fall 2016.
  2. Engineering and TDM Implementation (July – October 2016): Implementation of short-term engineering and TDM improvements to provide interim improvements in the Southgate neighborhood.
  3. Program Development (December 2016 – March 2017): Development of Southgate RPP Resolution, adoption/modification of resolution by City Council, and internal program development.
  4. Implementation (March-June 2017): Signage design, fabrication, and installation; permit design and fabrication; online permit sales set-up; community meetings focused on program roll-out.
